Orthodox Christian Prison Ministry (OCPM) Convocation

Fr. Duane Pederson

I attended the OCPM Convocation in Minneapolis, MN last week.  It was an inspiring meeting of many faithful Orthodox Christians from around the country.  We gathered to learn and share our experiences with prison ministry.

His Grace Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos – Chancellor the Holy Metropolis of Chicago of the Greek Archdiocese – offered the keynote address.  He spoke about the singular motive for ministry; love.  He emphasized that love is not an emotion or feeling, but a mode of being.  Human dignity is restored by love.

Fr. Duane Pederson, founder of OCPM, long-term prison minister, and faithful pastor to many was again present with us during the convocation.  His kindness, meekness, and gentleness is always amazing to experience.
